Oova's algorithm runs fast, especially when a good scan is captured. However, sometimes you may be unsure if your results are accurate and think to rescan the same test strip.
Generally, scanning the same Oova cartridge multiple times increases the chance of a bad scan.
What happens if I rescan my test strip?
By repeatedly scanning the same test strip, we test the limits of two things: a) the chemistry and b) the probability of an incorrect response.
The chemistry is constantly running, even after the timer goes off, so you will continue to see variability. We consider the "ideal scanning period" to be within 10-15 minutes of providing a urine sample to the sample pad. This is the moment we have based all of our accuracy measures on.
You add the probability that the test will return a bad result by consistently rescanning. Specifically, there is a 95% chance that the first scan is accurate. If that is the case, then there is a 90% chance (95% * 95% = 90%) that the second scan is correct. If you scan a third time, there is a 73% chance the scan is accurate.
You must scan the test once at the 10-minute mark because we are adding much noise to the algorithm by doing multiple scans.
What should I do if I'm unsure about my scan results?
If you're unsure about your scan results, send a message to support@oova.life and request that the Oova team reviews your results. Our team will be able to confirm that the scan is accurate and make any tweaks as needed.
